Perla – Leather
Perla – Leather is a dense micritic limestone with a fine, uniform structure and a refined leathered surface. Its excellent color stability, low porosity, and natural durability make it ideal for wall cladding and architectural applications.
Material & Design Details
Perla – Leather is a high-quality micrite (mudstone) limestone distinguished by its fine-grained, homogeneous structure. The stone contains no visible rock fragments or limestone grains, indicating formation in deep and tranquil marine conditions below wave and storm activity.
During sedimentation, seawater temperatures were likely below 15°C, promoting the formation of aragonite crystals. Throughout the lithification process, water was expelled, resulting in a dense calcium carbonate structure with no iron content and extremely limited pore space. This creates a very solid stone with exceptional durability and a stable, uniform color that is not affected by ultraviolet radiation, ensuring no discoloration over time.
Deposited in seawater, PERLA – Leather demonstrates excellent resistance to salt water and will not dissolve in saline environments. Its dense composition also provides strong resistance to mildly acidic conditions, remaining stable at pH levels as low as 6–6.5. As swimming pools typically operate at a pH of around 7.5, this limestone is exceptionally well suited for use in standard chlorine pools, saltwater pools, and other aquatic installations.
Finished with a leathered surface, the stone offers a subtle texture that enhances slip resistance while maintaining a refined, natural appearance. PERLA – Leather is an excellent choice for swimming pool linings, pool decks, wet areas, and architectural applications where performance, safety, and timeless aesthetics are essential.
